VIP Computers is committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date, showing the most recent information that we have about you and your company. The personal information that we hold will be held securely in accordance with the law.

Why do we collect information about you?
We collect information about you for two reasons: firstly, to process your order in an efficient and timely manner and second, to provide you with the best possible service.
What information do we collect?
The type of information we will collect about you includes:
- Information you give us - for example your name, company name, contact details, delivery addresses credit/debit card details, etc.
- Information collected automatically by tracking your progress around the website, and from recording your previous orders.
- Information may be collected from your activities on the VIP website, or may be added by your Account Manager or other VIP staff.
As we introduce more advanced features and services to the VIP website, and develop company practices, it is possible that we would obtain information from other sources. If this situation occurs, this document will be updated as a matter of urgency.
Information you give us
When you trade with VIP online or via your account manager, information that you give to us will be stored - for example, your address and telephone number. Much of this information is required in order for you to trade with us.
Some information is retained at your request for your convenience - for example, we store your credit card details if requested to do so, to enable quicker transactions in the future.
Information Collected Automatically
Like many websites, we use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site, including but not limited to your route through the site, pages viewed, purchase history, the web browser and operating system you are using. We only track you around our own website and not anywhere else on the internet. We use this information to improve the experience of visitors to our website, and to deliver content that is relevant to you.
Use of the site requires the use of 'cookie' - a small text file that would be stored on your web browser and used to identify you when you are logged into the site. We may also use a cookie to remember your login between visits if you choose to do so. You can modify your browser settings to prevent this happening. However, some VIP website features or services may not function properly without cookies.
Email communications
Some email communications are required in order for you to trade with us. We will not send marketing e-mails to you unless you have given us your consent.
You may opt out of receiving marketing emails from us by updating your contact details on our website, or emailing marketing@vip-computers.co.uk with your account number, name and email address, clearly marked 'marketing email opt out'.
Does VIP Computers share the information with third parties?
VIP Computers does not share any personal information with any third parties. If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area), or supply your information to any third party, we will always obtain your consent first.
Access to the information we hold about you
If you would like to see what information we have stored about you, you can in the following ways:
To check the information you have given us:
- To check the details that we hold about you and your company, log into the website and go to your account details page. Some of these details can be amended immediately. Other details, especially those which VIP Computers needs to ensure good service and to protect your security, can be updated by filling in the relevant request form. We will correct the information promptly.
- To view, edit or delete the credit/debit card details that you have asked us to retain, log into the website and go to the card management page
- To view your purchase history, log into the website and go to the account history page
