What is Windows Vista®?
Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows Vista® makes it easier, safer and more enjoyable for your customers to do just about anything on their PC. Since its launch in 2007, Windows Vista has sold more than 140M copies worldwide.
With the recent launch of SP1, demand for Vista is expected to rise as customers previously reluctant to make the switch from XP now feel more confident to do so.
With SP1, Windows Vista gets even better.
Windows Vista SP1 is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from Microsoft customers. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware and adding support for several emerging standards.
With its innovative safety and mobility features, advanced digital entertainment capabilities and improved reliability, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 makes using a PC safer, more entertaining, more reliable and more rewarding than ever.
Why Vista?
Windows Vista with SP1 is:
- More secure, making it better able to protect systems. In the first six months of use, Windows Vista had fewer security issues than Windows XP and Mac OS X.
- Better at delivering performance for your customers. Windows Vista has been continuously updated since its release to address application or system crashes. Windows Vista with SP1 improves the speed of copying and extracting files, reduces the time to become active from Hibernate mode, and improves the performance of domain-joined PCs when operating off the domain.
- More reliable, improving the overall user experience. Users made 21% fewer support calls versus the Windows XP launch in the first 90 days. Users also found improved reliability and compatibility of Windows Vista when used with newer graphics cards, when working with external displays on a laptop, and with many printer drivers.
- The most supported operating system ever. Windows Vista with SP1 has improved device and application compatibility. Microsoft has added 700,000 new plug-and-play device IDs since the initial Windows Vista release, and more than 2,500 other software applications work with Windows Vista. The number of Windows Vista logo devices exceeds 15,000, and the growth is outpacing Windows XP.
